Ganymede

Ganymede Zurich Hubacher

Readers of this blog from way back will know that I'm drawn to the view down the lake from Burkliplatz, with the iconic statue of Ganymede (and Zeus) always in the foreground. I wrote a bit about it back in 2006 - Hubacher's Ganymede

I've photographed and posted this view many times. Why? It's not so much that there is a way of rediscovering it, finding something new. Rather for me it is a touchstone. Always there, always with the alps and the light behind it, always with that familiar gesture.

.... and always welcome. Good to see this back, (if slightly demented) Happy New Year

I can understand you very well..... Me too, I was always touched anew by this statue - beautifully crafted and making such a wonderful foreground to whatever happens on the Lake! I wish I could again take a round trip on one of the steamers... Aaaah, one can dream, no?!
