C'est ainsi, les bâtiments : ouverts au public se doivent d'être propres et donc de faire un "grand nettoyage" les jours de fermeture. Pour des raisons de sécurité bien entendu (sols glissants, matériel qui traine) et de prestige aussi.
A la mairie c'est le dimanche, dans les bureaux le soir, et au musée du Louvre c'est le mardi.
Je pense que tu aimeras cette photo prise un mardi sous la pyramide du Louvre :

A private visit to the Louvre - very priviliged. And you are right about the "épure" - it's amazing the difference it makes when you can exclude people from a view like this. (In this case I might have sneakily tried to movedthe mop and tape ;))
