Rain

Scorching temperatures the last couple of days, so it's tempting to cool it down a bit.

But then it's Sunday and time for some music. This might steam things up again.

Music for Sunday 24th May

White man sings the blues.

This pic is more like it. I thought now would be a good time to mention that I visit your blog for inspiration so any criticism I might have would only be levelled due to an exceptionally high standard in my opinion. For anyone else it would be nitpicking...

That didnt really come out right but you know what I mean...

Thanks Shaun - I appreciate all your comments. I wouldn't bother posting stuff on a blog if all I wanted was a pat on the back!

Apart from the attractive things like the rendering of the shiny wet, it's fun to see how the couple seem to be looking at the manhole with some concern. What will happen? Will it swallow me up?

On désire toujours ce qu'on n'a pas. Cette photo m'aurait rafraichie avant-hier et aujourd'hui elle me glace....
Cette femme a l'air frigorifiée.

I like the relationship between these two, and their apparent self-absorption. She looks like she's spent a lifetime resignedly waiting for him to finish examining drain covers.

Marie-Celeste: long time no see! But welcome back - stormy seas or the doldrums that have kept you away? I guess that stick thing he has is specially designed for probing manhole covers

Oh, and it's Mr Green again, I think? I found a recording of Little Willie John singing it (think he wrote it). Doesn't have half the pathos of this version.

I found a whole website devoted to man hole covers from around the world. Perhaps I'm spending too long on the internet.

MC - only one? I thought you would find entire google groups devoted to individual manhole-cover-types.

Peter Green, yes, I'm wondering if you're showing your age? I'd placed you as a bit younger, but I'm not being nosey. I love his singing, songwriting and of course guitar work - much better than perhaps more famous contemporaries like Clapton

Richard, come come, more posts please. I am inspired by your blog and pictures and while I cannot attribute my boredom right now to you, the fact that I am finding interest in Marie Celestes manhole cover website is worrying me a little. Work is a little dull and clearly I have too much time on my hands... can you step up the pace a little?

So nobody has given the guess who the white man is? (I don't know.). A real b&w music?

Peter - you're not paying attention! It's your namesake again, Mr Green from Fleetwood Mac.

Really like this photograph. I'm intrigued as to why the woman has a very definite shadow and the man doesn't but I'm sure it's something like it rained more on that side of the pic or light or something obvious. Reading the comments is as entertaining as the photograph. Were they standing still when you photographed them, Richard - staring, as they appear to be, at the manhole covers, or is that an illusion and in fact they are walking? I'm sure we don't need this information but it is an intriguing photograph.

Stupid of me! I will read the comments better next time! :-)

Don't you reckon they kinda look like zombies about to disappear down that hole?

Mr Green is a bit restrained for me - I need more histrionics with my blues.
