Den Haag

I'm traveling again over the next few days. Started off with an overnight train journey to Den Haag. I was busy with business so only had time for a couple of shots on my way to catch a train onwards to Brussels. Like many cities these days the architecture seems to try and outdo the others with a combination of technical wizziness and grotesque references to traditional motifs

grotesque references to traditional motifs ? Sorry, I'd rather have them than a bland, international, concrete & glass phallus. In fact, I suspect there are all too few references to architectural heritage - I can think of very few ( 0 is very few) high rise blocks drawing on UK building heritage. All we have, possibly as a result of the well meaning meddling by Charlie, is a style of faux classical for houses and low office blocks that is neither fish nor fowl. Futuristic? Bring it on, I say.

But then, I suspect you may have been deliberately contentious with your choice of words.

This photo reminds me of McMahon & Tait offices.
You know - Darren Stevens firm on Bewitched.

I like Den Haag very much. It's a mix of old and new. Great point of view, I'm guessing this is the view from the station. The center of the city is much more historic with palaces and all.

the alerts failed to flag this one so I nearly missed it along with "Jim".

Contentious comments aside.......the photo makes my toes curl. Great!!

Your comment says it all. Great capture of an unconvincing city development
