Globus

globus

Morning in the cafe of Globus department store at Bellevue. The cafe is open at 7am and is another regular haunt. Although not a sweet-tooth person I can often be seen negotiating one of their corniche vanille - a sort of croissant filled with vanilla cream. However I took this photo because it reminds me of Zurich, wakening up to the Neue Zürcher Zeitung and Tages Anzeiger

A lovely early morning depiction. Before the crowds descend sort of thing. Noticed the NZZ right away as I was surveying the photo. I do that first, and then read the text.

You are not a sweet-tooth person? You are no friend of mine ;-)
Please pass that corniche this way!

@z - even though my German is rudimentary I try and improve it by struggling through the papers. In Zurich my feeling is that the Tages Anzeiger is the better all-round paper while NZZ is more business oriented. I don't know how or when the papers are delivered here, but they are certainly there at 5am. Reminds me of my youth, getting up at god-awful hours to do a paper round on a bicycle for a pittance. Child slave labour it was, although it developed some kind of discipline

If you're reading the NZZ, it seems to be that your German is better than just rudimentary. I've perused only their online English section.

....try to think of it another way.....giving you an opportunity to build self discipline, idependence and an outgoing personality, bringing pleasure to people who appreciated your daily early call and your dedication to delivering their news. My lad collected huge tips at Christmas. I admired him for his dedication, rain or shine and with no encouragement beyond his commitment to duty. Human souls are diverse and strange creatures.

Nice to see you back with this superior cafe photo... ;-)

State that this photo is superb and I love its line of focus, may I ask what "sweet-tooth" does it mean? (a part litteral translating, of course)
